Swing 4 DiabetesDear Sponsor, Have you ever wonder what a person with diabetes goes through within one day? Multiple blood-sugar checks, glucose injections, meal planning, dietary maintenance, consistent exercise/physical activity, and the balance of all of these factors to ensure successful control of glucose levels—this is the daily routine of people and families living with diabetes. The process can be extremely overwhelming, and the goal is sometimes difficult to accomplish, especially for those facing a new diagnosis. As we celebrate the launch of our first annual golf tournament, we seek your support for Swing for Diabetes. This event is an annual fundraising event which will address the special needs of people living with diabetes. The money raised this year will benefit East Alabama Medical Center’s Diabetes divison. This specialized department provides supplies, counseling and education for those who otherwise would not be able to afford those services. Swing for Diabetes is hosted by Auburn graduates, Diana Ramage and Kendall Simmons. Diana, a professional golf player, was diagnosed with diabetes in 1998. Kendall, an NFL player, was diagnosed in 2003. Both of these athletes fully understand the lifestyle changing effects of diabetes. Through constant monitoring and education, both of them have been able to maintain a healthy lifestyle while being an inspiration for others living with diabetes. Please come join us in our efforts to inspire and educate our community.
