Dr. Mathews is a retired internist who has spent the past 31 years of his medical career treating east Alabamians at EAMC. As a board member, Dr. Mathews would like to see the continued growth of the endowment fund which will enable more grants to be issued to patients who need help the most.

Dr. Mathews is an Auburn graduate as well as a graduate of the UAB School of Medicine. He and his wife, Carolyn, have been married for over forty-one years and have two daughters.
