Eileen Edith Lord
1939-2009

Eileen Edith Lord lost her courageous battle with cancer on February 24, 2009, at Bethany House in Auburn. She was 69 years old. Eileen had worked as a Teacher's Aide in Glendale, California, prior to being diagnosed with cancer. She loved working with the 4th grade children. She moved to Auburn in March 2008, and created new friendships at Camellia Place, Azalea Place, and the Cancer Center of EAMC.

She is survived by her three children, Cynthia Popovich (Mark) of Santa Rosa, California, Sharon Gaber (John) of Auburn, and Philip Lord (Rachele) of Ft. Wayne, Indiana; two brothers, Edmund "Bud" Dahl of Basking Ridge, New Jersey, and Elmer Dahl (Hazel) of West Simsbury, Connecticut. She has eight grandchildren, Matthew Popovich, Sara Popovich, Allison Gaber, Jennifer Gaber, Peter Gaber, Ashley Jackson, Alyssa Jackson, and Audrey Lord. Her nieces and nephews were also an important part of her life and kept in close contact.

She valued her friendships and the efforts that people made to stay in touch, even when she couldn't. She appreciated all of the staff of the Cancer Center of EAMC, and especially Dr. Linda Farmer.

Donations in memory of Eileen Edith Lord may be made to the East Alabama Medical Center Foundation in support of the EAMC Cancer Center.
